Description

When you’re pushing a 4th Gen Tacoma through miles of washboard logging roads or technical interior trails, heat is the enemy of your suspension. Standard shocks can overheat, leading to shock fade where the ride becomes bouncy and uncontrolled. The Bilstein 5160 Series solves this with a remote reservoir design that increases oil capacity and surface area for significantly better cooling.

Sold by us as a complete pair, these shocks are the perfect rear-end match for a 6112 front-end setup. They provide the high-speed damping and bottom-out resistance needed for a fully kitted-out rig without the complexity or price tag of a full race-spec bypass shock.

Why the 5160 Series?
  • Remote Reservoir Design: By moving the dividing piston into a separate reservoir, Bilstein has increased the shock’s travel and oil volume. This allows the shock to work harder for longer periods without overheating, even under the weight of a canopy or bed rack.
  • Vehicle-Specific Valving: These aren't universal shocks. They are specifically valved for the 2024+ Tacoma's rear geometry and spring rates, ensuring a balanced, planted feel that eliminates the factory rear-end hop.
  • Zinc-Plated Durability: Like all premium Bilstein products, the 5160s feature a heavy-duty zinc coating. This is vital for drivers who deal with road salt on the highway and abrasive mud on the trails.
  • 360-Degree Swivel Hose: The high-pressure hose features a swivel fitting that makes installation cleaner and prevents binding during extreme suspension articulation.
Key Features
  • Sold as a Pair: We’ve simplified the process. One order gets you both rear shocks.
  • Billet Reservoir Clamps: Includes heavy-duty, anodized billet aluminum clamps to securely mount the reservoirs to the shock body for a clean, professional look.
  • Monotube Technology: Provides consistent, fade-free performance by keeping the oil and nitrogen gas separated.
  • Improved Articulation: Optimized lengths to maximize the travel potential of the 4th Gen Tacoma's rear suspension.

Pro Tip: If you’re planning on hitting the long stretches of washboard FSRs up in the Chilcotin or carrying a consistent load like a rooftop tent, the 5160s are a must. Standard shocks just get too hot and give up after an hour of high-speed corrugated roads. The remote reservoir on the 5160 keeps the damping consistent so your truck handles the last kilometer of the day as well as it did the first. Plus, the billet clamps look great tucked up under the wheel well
