Description
Description
The aging factory suspension on a 3rd Gen 4Runner causes severe body roll on paved corners and easily bottoms out when hitting deep potholes or washboards on local Forest Service Roads. The Locked Offroad IFP (Internal Floating Piston) Shock Package directly corrects this by upgrading your rig to a high-pressure, nitrogen-charged damping system that delivers up to 25% more wheel travel. Available in both 2.0-inch and 2.5-inch shock diameters, this complete package includes vehicle-specific front coilovers and matching rear shocks to stabilize your chassis, improve small-bump compliance, and provide an adjustable 2- to 3-inch lift height.
Key Features
- Up to 25% More Wheel Travel: Maximizes suspension articulation to keep your tires firmly planted in deep ruts, maintaining off-road traction and forward momentum.
- Internal Floating Piston (IFP) Design: Separates the high-pressure nitrogen charge from the shock oil, completely eliminating performance-robbing oil aeration and shock fade during continuous cycling.
- Adjustable Front Ride Height: Threaded steel shock bodies allow you to finely adjust your front lift from 2 to 3 inches, letting you perfectly level the vehicle or clear larger tire sizes.
- Platform-Specific Valving: Custom-tuned for the weight dynamics and track width of the 1996–2002 4Runner platform to achieve highway stability without sacrificing trail compliance.
- Corrosion-Resistant Architecture: Built with black zinc-coated steel bodies and anodized 6061 aluminum components to withstand heavy PNW rain, winter road salt, and deep mud.
What’s Included
- (2) Front IFP Coilovers (Fully assembled with high-performance coil springs)
- (2) Rear Matching IFP Smooth Body Shocks
- (1) Coilover Spanner Wrench for ride height adjustment
- All application-specific lower and upper mounting hardware
Available Configurations & Variants:
Shock Body Diameter:
- 2.0-Inch – Designed for daily drivers, commuter rigs, and weekend trail users looking for maximum comfort and a dramatic upgrade over stock handling.
- 2.5-Inch – Engineered for built trucks, heavier payloads, and high-speed dirt sections where the larger internal oil volume is required to handle aggressive suspension cycling.
Front Spring Rates:
- 600 lb/in – Optimized for factory front-end weight or minimal modifications (closest to OEM ride frequency).
- 650 lb/in – Engineered for medium-weight builds carrying aftermarket front armor, full rock sliders, or a lightweight winch setup.
- 700 lb/in – Intended exclusively for heavy front-end setups, such as full steel plate bumpers, heavy-duty recovery winches, and complete underbody steel skid systems.
Pro Tip: This package includes front coilovers and rear shocks, but it does not include rear lift springs. The factory rear coils on the 3rd Gen 4Runner are notorious for sagging over time, especially when loaded down with camping gear, drawers, or a fridge. To properly match the 2- to 3-inch lift in the front and maintain a level stance, you must purchase upgraded rear coil springs separately.
